Douglas Carter Beane’s new book re-invents the classic tale of a maid-turned-princess with fresh comedy, wit and satire: with pumpkin, glass slippers, Fairy Godmother and other story elements intact, it is now Cinderella’s turn to rescue the Prince, reminding us once again that in a cruel world the act that matters most is kindness.

CASTING DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT: We are seeking all ethnicities, types, and genders for all roles. Where gender-specific pronouns are used, they are used to describe the gender identity/presentation of the characters and not the gender of the actors playing those characters. We welcome and encourage actors to audition and/or submit without regard to ethnicity, type, ability, or gender.

MADAME: Plays 40’s to 60’s. ANY ETHNICITY. Ella’s selfish stepmother.  The epitome of vanity and fashion. A ravenous social climber who values wealth, status, and material possessions above all else. Unapologetically dismissive and sometimes cruel, Madame schemes her way up the social ladder. Must have incredible comic timing. Traditional musical theatre character voice.

TO SUBMIT: Please e-mail your headshot, resume, and any relevant clips or reels to  Subject Line: Madame Submission.  All submissions MUST be received by Friday, April 21st.

Please note: If you have a disability and would like to request reasonable accommodations, please let us know prior to the auditions.
